HTTPS and Website Security

Understand what security signals Google looks for and how to keep your visitors safe.

Google requires HTTPS to ensure visitor data is protected. Sites without HTTPS show browser warnings that scare visitors away.

Without HTTPS: Browsers show scary warnings and visitors leave immediately without reading anything.

Common issues: No SSL certificate, expired certificate, mixed content, weak encryption, missing security headers.

How to fix: Get an SSL certificate (usually included free), install it, redirect HTTP to HTTPS, add security headers.
